Apeldoorn (Apple)
Apeldoorn, or Apple (as she goes by), is a sweet and playful pup who is shy at first but once she feels secure in her environment, blossoms into an outgoing and independent pup. Apple absolutely loves being outside and will spend hours on her own investigating the backyard. Apple is a little shy when meeting new people and dogs, but she warms up quickly with patience and most importantly, treats! She is very food motivated and is willing to do just about anything for a cookie. Once comfortable, Apple‘s personality shines through, and boy is she sweet! Apple loves to be with her people with her favourite spot being lying on top of your feet. With her love of treats, Apple is eager to learn and has already started her training journey. She’s crate-trained and is making good progress on her housetraining but these are both still a work in progress. Apple gets along well with other dogs and cats. She has even met several types of farm animals including sheep, cows, chickens and turkeys. So far, she has not shown any prey drive for the chickens or turkeys but this could change as she gets older.
What Apeldoorn needs from her forever family is what you would expect with any puppy her age with a few additions:
Apple needs a family that will be patient and dedicated to helping her build confidence in new situations. A calm home with older kids who can participate in her training is ideal as Apple struggles with frequent change. This will likely get better as she gets older but a calm and patient home is needed to ensure her success.
For city homes, a fenced yard is a must to give her the freedom to explore. Country homes may be considered without a fenced yard, provided she has safe outdoor access. Apple would also strongly benefit from a home with another playful and confident canine. She is happy to share her home with cats as well but another dog pal will help build her confidence and keep her company. Apple is a gentle playmate and loves dogs of all sizes.
Like a typical husky, Apple can be vocal at times, especially when she thinks there is food on the way. For this reason, a home where some barking and husky wailing will be tolerated, is important. Unfortunately apartment living isn’t suitable for Apple.
Most of all, Apple would love a family that enjoys being outdoors and who is looking to take her along for adventures! So if you’re ready to welcome an adorable pup into your family, Apeldoorn can’t wait to find her forever home!

- Special: This pup is looking for a home in the Ottawa/Gatineau area as she does have outstanding vetting (covered by the adoption fee) that is being completed at our clinic in West Ottawa. After this outstanding vetting has been completed, the adopter can attend the clinic of their choice for all future vetting. None of our dogs are candidates for dog parks, so please do not apply if these are important to you.
