Mocha

Mocha is s special little girl, looking for a home willing to give her time to feel comfortable.  She loves her people tremendously but needs to know she is safe which does not take very long if you show her kindness.  She currently lives with multiple dogs and within a few days she found and adapted well to her new crew! She would do best with an easy going dog who will be patient as she learns to trust.  Once she trusts, she is typically the one to start playtime by bringing a much loved stuffed toy to share tug’o’war or engaging in a game of chase by bouncing and zooming around.   She is a very happy-go-lucky and funny girl.   If no one wants to play Mocha is content to amuse herself with a toy, chew a stick or settle in with her favourite hard chew.

Mocha is house trained, quiet in her crate and not destructive.  She needs a fenced yard if in the city as being proactive with letting her out freely to explore encourages her activity and continued success.  She does alert bark sometimes when startled but settles quickly with reminders like ‘no barks’ and a fun redirection.

Mocha pulls on leash as she loves a fast paced walk.  She will stop abruptly and tends to linger a little too long at reeeally gooood smells.  Vocal reminders to ‘let’s go/ move along’ work well, but bringing along treats to help with training is always helpful.  Big and loud scary noises can scare her sometimes, so having a confident handler that can guide her along is important.

After her evening walk, she likes to be near to her person.  She will wait to be invited up onto sofa before jumping.  Her cuddles start as a lean into you, then her shoulder slowly inches across your leg before claiming your whole lap.  She loves cuddles.  She sleeps on her dog bed or her preferred comfy chair when you are not up for cuddle-time.  She also likes to burrow and she thinks it great fun to wedge herself between or under cushions like being the middle (best part!!) in a sandwich.

Mocha is a medium energy dog, playful, engaging, food motivated and has great recall. All she is missing is her forever people to help her gain confidence and feel safe!
