Summer

Summer is a sweet and curious girl looking for an active family who will take her on all sorts of adventures. She loves other dogs and enjoys playing with a friendly and playful buddy that can handle her goofiness. She would not make a great match for older dogs in the home as her upbeat personality be too much for them. She has not met cats while in care, but has shown a prey drive. For this reason, Summer is looking for a cat-free home.
Summer’s ideal family will be committed to bringing her to obedience training to help her become a well-rounded pup. She is still learning how to keep four on the floor when following her nose, and is improving her leashed walks every day through positive reinforcement training.
Summer is house trained, though may have some initial accidents in the home when getting familiar with her new home. She is doing well with her crate training. She currently is crated during the work day and let out at lunch for a walk and potty break. With structure, she can likely work up to being crated for a full work day.
In true hound fashion, Summer uses her singing to communicate while initially crated before settling in. For this reason, detached housing is required. At night, she settles immediately in the crate but she is an early riser and will be sure to let you know she is ready to start her day. Summer absolutely loves going for walks. With training, she would also make a great jogging partner. Since she likes other dogs and people, she always wants to say hello.
She is looking for a family comfortable working on improving her leash manners. Given her higher energy, she will need a home committed to giving her lots of exercise and mental stimulation.
Summer likes to jump in the car and join you on your adventures. However, she has been car sick and will likely need some medication to help with her nausea for longer trips.
