Zoie
Zoie loves being around others, especially her people. Zoie has spurts of energy, especially around dinner but is very mellow overall and is happy napping with the other dogs in the house while her people work from home during the day. She likes going for walks, but they are not more than a few blocks as she’s still adjusting to winter in Ottawa. She’s happy to be let out in the back yard a few times a day, and stay out of the cold.
Zoie has learned to sit and wait, but that is harder for her when food is around. She gets along well with the other dogs in the house and is great about sleeping in her own bed on the floor next to her foster parents but would be very happy to share the bed with them. She’s very patient and will quietly lay in her dog bed waiting for her people to get up in the morning. She doesn’t chew, destroy, or get into anything.
Zoie is great about being an “at the home office” dog, and is very quiet all day. She does not need to go out often to pee and has never peed indoors. She could probably adjust to being at home alone 1-2 days per week, but it’s helpful that she has dog companions here. She is actually scared of any toys so her love language is definitely quality time. She loves getting scratchies and belly rubs and just hanging out with her people. You’ve never seen a better example of “upward facing dog”, which is her favorite stretch that she does all the time. If you have a treat to give her, you will have a friend for life!
She is very interested in the squirrels and rabbits in the neighborhood, and is pretty driven to go after them, so a fenced yard would be great for her! She lives with older kids, and has done well with younger kids on walks. She would be okay with kids in a home that can respect her space. She does well being crated in the car, as it is her safe space.
